Under the EPA’s lead paint rule, ANYONE disturbing 6 square feet or more on homes built before 1978 MUST be certified through an approved lead paint renovator training such as this one offered by the HBAA.
The Lead Safety for Renovation, Repair and Painting certification course teaches individuals how to safely work with lead paint. It is an approved course by the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH), University of Alabama Safe State program and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The course teaches individuals how to safely prepare to work with lead paint, work safely with lead paint and how to clean up/dispose of lead paint debris. The course also covers Alabama reporting/ record-keeping requirements. There are eight modules in the course with eleven hands-on skill sets. Upon successful completion of the course participants will be Certified Renovators.
Registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. Under federal law, training space for each session is limited to the first 25 registrants. You must be pre-registered in order to attend. Payment is due with registration. No walk-ins are allowed. No refund will be given if you fail to show up for class.
